More is always better, until it’s too much. The wastegate is responsible for keeping the turbo from continuously building boost until it pops. By allowing exhaust gas, the driving force of the turbocharger, to bypass the expeller (turbine), it will stop the impeller from sucking in air, creating boost.
The Turbo-Master is a fully independent, spring actuated wastegate boost controller bypasses the factory vacuum canister to provide a much better and controllable boost curve. The Turbo-Master when combined with the Max-E Tork programming will run 14-15 PSI under full throttle. We do recommend using the Turbo-Master along with our Max-E Tork program as the factory tune does not like to see more than 8 psi.
The factory wastegate starts to leak boost pressure around 40% of the peak boost pressure which hurts performance. The Turbo-Master does not bleed off boost pressure under the set max which till provide a quicker spool time, more turbo efficiency, more boost, and more power.
