Camaros are nothing new for Steve Felthousen. His father is an avid car collector and counts a ’69 Pace Car among his collection. In high school, Felthousen drove a ’73 Z28, and later he built a Pro Street ’69. Just to show how diverse his interests are, he also drove a ’69 Chevelle SS 396. But he soon began looking for another Camaro, and he knew he wanted a first-generation model.

Let’s Look
The growing popularity of nostalgia and rat rods, along with the aging of street rodders, has meant the rebirth of vintage engines. Rocket Oldsmobiles, Buick nailheads, Y-block Fords and Chrysler Hemis are being chosen over the “bellybutton” Chevrolet small-block. Even some small-block Chevrolet engines are getting old-time flavor by using generators–some of which have been internally modified as alternators–early blocks and heads, three-deuce setups and even adapting Oldsmobile valve covers to look like something they are not.

ALMOST NEW
Some folks talk about the great muscle car wars of the ‘60s and early ‘70s, but it’s hard to find a car guy who experienced it, enjoyed it and still owns the same car. At 66 years of age, Mike Overly was able to experience the muscle car era during his twenties, which is the perfect time to go fast in a cool car. The car seen on these pages is a ’70 Mustang, one that Overly has owned since 1970. Less than a year old, the Mustang sat at a used car lot in Indianapolis, Indiana, wearing black paint and an asking price of $2,300. From his inspection, Overly knew the original owner had already upgraded to a Boss 429 hood and scoop, so it may have been raced in its short life—the 2,000 miles on the odometer were probably not the easiest of miles.

Built for the Street, Ready for Action
The McLeod RST clutch was designed for real-world performance — not dyno queens or trailer-only builds. It thrives in daily-driven cars that see boost, hard pulls, and aggressive driving, while still behaving in traffic. This twin disc clutch kit gives you the freedom to push your build without constantly worrying about slip or drivability issues.
Why the RST Hits the Sweet Spot
Race clutches can hold power, but they usually come with harsh engagement, heavy pedals, and zero forgiveness. The McLeod RST Twin Disc Clutch strikes the perfect balance — strong enough to support serious upgrades, smooth enough to enjoy every mile. It’s the clutch you install when you’re done replacing stock parts and ready for real performance.
What to Expect
Like most high-performance twin disc clutches, some light noise or chatter during initial break-in is normal. Follow McLeod’s recommended break-in procedure and you’ll be rewarded with consistent engagement, long-term durability, and confidence under load.
Bottom Line
The McLeod RST Twin Disc Clutch Kit delivers serious holding power, smooth street drivability, and no-excuses performance. If your build is making power and you still want to enjoy driving it, this is the clutch that keeps up.
