When we selected a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 twin-cam, small-block 350 V-8 engine for our Cimtex Rods Super Cameo, we knew that we would be breaking new ground in the sense that GM never built a “production” automatic-transmission-equipped Corvette ZR1. However, there is record that a couple of Corvette ZR1s were specially equipped with automatic electronic overdrive transmissions for physically challenged Corvette enthusiasts. We don’t know whether it was done by the factory or by the private sector.

Nonetheless, it was our intent to run an automatic transmission behind this awesome powerplant. After all, we wanted our ’56 Super Cameo to be as civilized as possible, yet still be able to handle all the available torque and horsepower that will be the result of this twin Powerdyne (BD11-A) supercharged and intercooled Corvette ZR1 engine. But what type of GM automatic transmission would we actually be using?

Even though we all dream of blasting through the desert at 130-MPH like Robby Gordon, most of our 4×4 adventures take place at a much more reasonable pace. Unfortunately for our engines crawling along a boulder strewn dry river bed or climbing a goat trail through a mountain pass does not always allow enough airflow to keep our engines cool with a belt driven mechanical fan. Belt driven fans are designed to keep your engine cool when traveling down a street or highway not while crushing boulders at 3-MPH and 1,500-RPM. So what can we do to keep our rigs from boiling over this summer? Annual Jeep Festival Wraps up with record attendance

In the heart of Daytona Beach, Florida, from April 19th to the 28th, a congregation of Jeep enthusiasts embarked on an epic journey at Jeep Beach 2024. This annual extravaganza shattered previous attendance records, transforming the city into a mecca for all things Jeep.

The festivities kicked off with an electrifying Scavenger Hunt powered by the Goosechase App, leading participants on a quest to uncover hidden gems scattered across the city. Following this, the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship was on full display during a Coastal Cleanup initiative.

Throughout the week, the Parking Lot Party set the stage for the main event, featuring live tunes, delectable delights from local food trucks, and a noble blood donation drive.

A standout moment was the adrenaline-fueled Off-Road Experience at Cracker Ranch, sponsored by the folks at Hankook Tires, offering thrill-seekers the ultimate test for their Jeeps. Meanwhile, Jeeps at the Rock provided a laid-back vibe with activities like sunrise yoga, beachside games, and an epic tug-of-war showdown at the iconic Hard Rock Hotel.

The climax of Jeep Beach 2024 was the 21st Annual Main Event Show at the Daytona International Speedway, where over 200 national Jeep industry vendors showcased cutting-edge innovations and products, igniting the fervor of Jeep aficionados.

Adding to the excitement was the Jeep Beach JBR Music Fest, headlined by the country crooner Lee Brice and reggae legends The Wailers, among other stellar acts. Against the backdrop of pulsating beats and dazzling fireworks, Jeep unveiled its highly anticipated special edition 2024 Wrangler 4xe and Gladiator models, eliciting thunderous applause from the crowd.

As Jeep Beach 2024 came to a close, it was evident that the event embodied a vibrant lifestyle that transcended mere vehicular showcases, forging bonds among individuals from all walks of life. With the echoes of roaring engines and the laughter of newfound comrades lingering in the air, Jeep Beach concluded on a triumphant note, leaving attendees eagerly counting down the days until next year’s escapades.
